Dear Evan Hansen - Act one only
Broadway/America - December 2016

Evan Hansen: Ben Platt, Zoe Murphy: Laura Dreyfuss, Heidi Hansen: Rachel Bay Jones, Cynthia Murphy: Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jared Kleinman: Will Roland, Alana Beck: Kristolyn Lloyd, Connor Murphy: Mike Faist, Larry Murphy: Michael Park

This phenomenal show is sure to do well at this year’s Tonys. Ben Platt is giving an astounding performance, and the supporting cast is fantastic as well. A nice capture of act one only with no washout and just one quick dropout during the scene after Waving Through a Window. There is one head that blocks part of the front of the stage, but it’s worked around generally doesn’t do more than block the actors’ legs. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes playbill scans.

Delicated Balance, a
Broadway/America - January 2, 2015

Agnes: Glenn Close Tobias: John Lithgow Julia: Martha Plimpton Claire: Lindsay Duncan Harry: Bob Balaban Edna: Clare Higgins

A great capture of the play’s Broadway run. The whole cast gives stellar performances. There are a couple quick dropouts in act two and a couple places where it wanders for a few seconds, but is shot well overall. There are also some heads that can occasionally be seen at the bottom of the screen, but they never block the action. The show is three acts on three discs. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes playbill scans

Dirty rotten Scoundrels
London/England - November 2014

Robert Lindsay (Lawrence Jameson), Alex Gaumond (Freddy Benson), Katherine Kingsley (Christine Colgate)

Bonnie Langford (Muriel Eubanks), Gary Wilmot (Andre Thibault), Lizzy Connolly (Jolene)

The video is shot from the circle with a very good view of the stage, and only some head obstruction in the bottom of wider shots. There are a few brief blackouts throughout the show, but mostly during dialogue scenes
The shots are a mix of wides and zooms as necessary, following all the action in the best way possible. The colors are brilliant - bright and vivid, with little to no spotlight washout.

Dirty rotten Scoundrels - Opening night

Disgraced
Broadway/America - December 27, 2014

Amir: Hari Dhillon Isaac: Josh Radnor Emily: Gretchen Mol Jory: Karen Pittman Abe: Danny Ashor

A nice capture of this thought-provoking play. The story of a dinner party gone awry, the play delves into issues of religion, racism, sexism, domestic violence, and much more. The cast is fantastic, giving great performances all around. This is a nice capture with no washout, no blackouts, and very minor obstruction. There are a couple heads that can be seen at the bottom of the screen, but they never affect the action. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is very good overall, but there is more shuffling and static than usual; all of the dialogue is listenable. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

A lovely production. The staging is simple but effective, and the cast is solid. Emily is absolutely wonderful and the rest of the cast is charming as well. The score sounds beautiful played on a single upright piano. A great capture overall. There a couple quick dropouts and several small heads across the bottom of the screen, but no major blackouts or obstruction. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound has a bit more shuffling noise than usual.

Dracula - A Chamber Musical
Ontario (Avon Theatre)/Canada -  November 16, 1999

Shawn Wright, Amy Walsh, Michael Flatcher, Benedict Campbell, June Crowley, Roger Honeywell, Juan Chioran

A video recording of a live performance on November 16, 1999 at the Avon Theatre, Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Stratford, Ontario, Canada, shown on CBC March 16, 2000. A musical adaptation of Dracula, without the blood, fangs, and bats. A strong ensemble cast, which interacts well.  Roger Honeywell's Harker, comes across strong and confident. Juan Chioran's Dracula is strong, virile, and vocally amazing. Carrying the major portion of vocalizing his voice is masterful in "The Blood is the Life" and "One More Night" reprise, and caressingly soft in "If You Love Me Now".

A promising new musical about the construction of the Empire State building. The show has great comedy and some absolutely incredible dance numbers, as well as very clever use of projections. Stephanie's performance as Frankie is the highlight of the show. This is perfectly captured with no blackouts and no washout. Everyday Rapture - Preview - Limited trade
Broadway/America - April 20, 2010

The musical is a loose autobiography of Scott herself, showing her travels from her half-Mennonite Kansas childhood to a life in show business. The show is called a "stage memoir disguised as fiction". Songs by singers and songwriters include David Byrne, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, and the Johnny Mercer-Harry Warren "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe." The Judy Garland "Get Happy" and "You Made Me Love You" are sung, the "latter amusingly illustrated with a serieof cheeky images of Jesus." Songs from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood are also sung. The show has been described as "'a one-person show with four people in it”. Disc also includes about 30 minutes of interviews and behind the scenes footage.

Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, Ashley Park, Conor Guzman, Regi Davis, Gedde Watanabe, Alyse Rockett, Hal Linden, Amir Talai.

An inventive new production of this long-running Off-Broadway classic. Very nicely captured with no washout and no blackouts. There are some small heads that can occasionally be seen at the bottom of the screen, but they never block the action. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A+

The show was filmed with an HD camera in 16:9 wide-screen with no obstructions and action extremely well followed. Really enjoyed watching this show again in the comfort of my own home and surely a treasure to keep. The only problem is there is a drop out at the end of Act 1, but does not last for more than about 40 seconds. Other than that I do believe that this is the best DVD of the Fiddler out there.

Fiddler on the Roof

Danny Burstein, Jessica Hecht, Alexandra Silber, Samantha Massell, Melanie Moore, Jenny Rose Baker, Hayley Feinstein, Alix Korey, Adam Kantor, Ben Rappaport, Nick Rehberger, Adam Dannheisser, Karl Kenzler, Michael C Bernardi, Adam Grupper, Jeffrey Schecter, George Psomas, Lori Wilner, Jessica Vosk, Mitch Greenberg, Aaron Young, Jennifer Zetlan, Jesse Kovarsky

A wonderful revival of this classic production. Danny is fantastic and perfectly cast. The first couple minutes of act two are blacked out, but the show is otherwise fully captured. There some heads at the bottom that can be seen occasionally, but they rarely affect the action. A few scenes are very dark, but the actors’ faces can be seen, and there is very little washout in the brighter scenes. It’s filmed in 16:9, with wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

Includes speeches by Bartlett Sher, Sheldon Harnick. One head occasionally blocks the very front edge of the stage, but never fully affects the action. Most of Tradition is missing; the very end of the song and the first part of the following scene are audio only. The video begins just after Yente’s entrance. There are also about two minutes of blackouts during the scene following If I Were a Rich Man as well as a couple other quick dropouts.

A top-notch regional production of this show. The whole cast has great voices and comedic timing, especially Matthew, David, Jeanette, and Candi. The audience is very enthusiastic, making this an electric performance to watch.A fantastic capture overall.
